How to use the smartphone lens adapter?

To use the Ulanzi DOF adapter you will need a smartphone cage or a suitable smartphone rig. Then, you might need a little time to practise. But once you have a good grasp of it, you’ll be able to shoot beautifully cinematic shots and choose your exact focal point, just like with a professional filmcamera. What else do you need to keep in mind?

• Only full-frame Manual lenses are suitable as a smartphone lens
• You get the best results using a fast lens (f0.9-f2.8)
• Because this adds an extra layer between your camera, you lose some light. This can decrease the quality of your photos and videos a little bit or can show some of the texture of the lens
• Vignetting, barrel distortion and chromatic aberration are often occurring issues when using DOF adapters. 

Note: The Ulanzi DOF adapter is suitable for lenses with Sony E-mount. Ulanzi also has a DOF adapter with Canon EF mount.

Which apps can you use to get good images using the Ulanzi DOF adapter?

Another thing to keep in mind is that the DOF adapter turns images upside down. You need an app to turn them back the right way up. How do you do this?

1. Start one of the following apps
2. Adjust the focus of your smartphone camera (usually you do this by tapping the screen on the point you’d like to focus on)
3. Turn the focus ring until you have a sharp image
