The BOYA BY-HM2 is a professional USB microphone that works with iPhones, Android devices and computers. Perfect for journalists, vloggers, filmmakers, musicians, podcast producers and basically everyone who likes to record high-quality sound. The USB microphone comes with a microphone stand.

The BOYA BY-HM2 is the ideal handheld microphone to use with a smartphone, tablet or computer. The microphone records with a cardioid pattern. This is perfect for nearby sounds in front of the microphone such as speech or music. The sound-quality is good, perfectly suitable for professional use.

The included tripod and microphone holder make it easy to place the microphone somewhere, to record a podcast for example.

Universal USB microphone

The BY-HM2 comes with three cables:

• Lightning cable for iPhones and iPads (Apple certified)
• USB-C cable for (newer) Android devices, modern laptops and the newest iPad Pro (2018).
• USB cable for Windows and Mac computers

The bottom of the microphone has a rubber cable protector to prevent cables from being damaged while plugged in.

Important information for Android users

BOYA BY-HM2 is one of the few external microphones specifically designed for Android users. There are however a few things to keep in mind.

The standard camera app usually doesn’t support USB-microphones. We recommend you use one of the designated apps when using this microphone.

Film apps that support USB microphones are for example:

• Filmic Pro (setting: Audio -> USB Microphone)
• Open Camera (setting: Video settings -> Audio source -> External mic (if present))
• Cinema FV-5 (setting: Audio source -> External mic)

Audio recorders that support USB microphones are for example:

• Audio Evolution Mobile
• USB Audio Recorder Pro
• Smart Recorder

The microphone comes with a USB-C cable but not with a Micro USB cable. If you use an (older) device with a Micro USB connector, you will need an extra USB OTG-cable to connect the microphone (not all older phones support this).
